Today’s ride begins boarding the 11:20 a.m. train at the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Peninsula trailhead and train station. We are riding the rails north to the end of the line, the Rockside Road station and trailhead. We start our cycling by heading north to Harvard Road where the Towpath Trail ends and return to the Rockside Road area for lunch at Yours Truly.

After lunch, we continue our journey south through the open valley along Canal Road with the canal on our left and the river on our right. We enter the woods on our way to Brecksville where we will take a break at the Station Road trailhead. Entering the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, we cycle through the remains of the paper factory at Jaite and take another break at the Boston Store Visitor’s Center. Our final leg into Peninsula takes us under the high level bridges of I-80 and I-271. Cycling across a meandering boardwalk we approach Peninsula and our cars.

This ride is rated as a level 3 (Hybrids) as it is a longer ride for the recreational cyclist. Cyclists travel at a pace of 11-13 mph. The ride traverse variable terrain with easy grades with a few short climbs. Distance is usually 15-30 miles. Regroups are common but at the discretion of the ride leader. Rest stops taken as needed.
